DIVA'S 3-MINUTE VIDEO SHOWCASE

Deadline: November 1, 2008. DIVA is pleased to introduce the 3-minute Video Showcase as a new program feature of the January 9-11, 2009 OpenLens Festival. This is a non-competitive event that seeks to promote microcinema productions by students, amateurs, and professionals.

An ultra-short video format is a way for inexperienced communicators to take an initial step into videomaking and for professionals to showcase their story and image delivery. Producing shorter format videos is not as easy as it may seem, which makes it a challenge for both newcomer and seasond professional.

DIVA will screen a compilation of selected entries during the OpenLens Festival and then make the program available for widespread exposure through additional screenings at other venues throughout the state.

Although the 3-Minute Video Showcase provides no juried prizes or awards it does offer the opportunity for videomakers to share their work with audiences at the Festival and beyond. Each selected videomaker will receive a certificate of recognition and appreciation.

Criteria:

  1. The showcase accepts submissions from videomakers of any age living in the State of Oregon.

  2. Categories include but are not limited to narrative, documentary, animation, and experimental.

  3. Length: 3 minutes including titles and credits.

  4. All copyright permission and release forms have been obtained for the submitted video and can be presented upon request.

Submission:

  • All submitted work must mailed or hand delivered to DIVA no later than November 1, 2008

  • There is no limit to the number of videos you can enter. However, each entry must be on a separate DVD and include a separate entry form and $10 entry fee. Discs with more than one video will be automatically disqualified form consideration.

  • Download and complete an entry form for each submitted video (PDF)

  • Include a $10.00 check or money order for each entry made out to DIVA 3-Minute Video Showcase

  • Each entry is to be submitted on a DVD and clearly marked with name, contact information and video title.

  • Mail or hand deliver your entry form, DVD, and entry fee by November 1, 2008 to:

    3 Minute Video Showcase
    DIVA Center 110 W. Broadway
    Eugene, Oregon 97401

Rules and Responsibilities:
By completing the 3-Minute Video entry form entrants understand that:

  1. It is understood that not all submissions may screened because of the Festival's program length or other factors. The 3-Minute planning committee will compile a program of selected work from those videos submitted to the showcase that meet all criteria. Videomakers will be notified either way as to whether or not their work has been accepted as part of the final program.

  2. Each submitting artist is responsible for all copyright and permission clearance related to his/her entry and that DIVA accepts no responsibility for copyright or permission infringement. Each entrant must be able to present completed permission forms upon request.

  3. The DIVA Center reserves the right to compile all entries accepted as part of the 2009 OpenLens Festival program for purposes of programming. By virtue of having their work accepted into the 2009 OpenLens Festival program, all selected artists acknowledge the DIVA Center's right to screen repeatedly without limitation the 2009 compilation of winners at the DIVA Center and at other venues of DIVA's choosing up to one year from when the 2009 OpenLens Festival ends. It is further understood by all entrants that the DIVA Center shall retain a permanent copy of the 2009 OpenLens Festival compilation for archival purposes.

  4. It is understood that if an entry is accepted for the 2009 program, the submitting artist will receive one Filmmakers Festival Pass. Tickets for family, friends, and colleagues may be purchased on a first come first serve basis at the door.
